Perth, Australia - After nearly 6 years of providing memorable events for locals, Perth-based comedy and event planning business, NYEvents, has announced that it will be closing its doors for good.
The business was co-founded by Yvonne Fletcher and Nicole Airay in 2017, after the two had known of each other for several years. They decided to collaborate and work together to create small-scale events for people to attend in Perth and its surroundings, including regular comedy shows at the Kalamunda Hotel and Kalamunda FRINGE WORLD events, as well as kid-friendly events.
In addition to these events, NYEvents also partnered with other businesses to bring families fun experiences locally. However, despite their hard work and perseverance, the co-owners have had to make the difficult decision to close NYEvents.
In a statement posted on Facebook, co-owner Yvonne Fletcher said, "This is no joke...We succeeded and at one stage had 6 venues on the go. Then we've had a few hard slams. We worked hard and persevered. Tough times happened but we slogged through."
Fletcher expressed her sadness at the decision and thanked Airay for their friendship and the wonderful times they shared. The closure of NYEvents has been met with sadness and grief from the community, with many people expressing their gratitude for the unique and exciting experiences the business offered.
NYEvents had become a staple in the local comedy event scene, offering stand-up comedy shows, improv performances, and other comedy-related events. The closure of the business is a loss for the community, but as Fletcher noted, it is also an opportunity for new beginnings.
As NYEvents takes its final curtain call, the community will remember the impact it had on their lives and the memories it helped create. Tickets for NYEvents' last show are available on their website.
